A gazebo makes an attractive outdoor retreat where you can enjoy your yard, relax and read the paper or entertain guests. And it will add substantially to the value of your home. This six-sided design is extremely easy and quick to build. The highly-pitched roof is supported by 4-by-4 posts set in cement. Lattice panels and rail parts are easy to cut and fit between the posts. Floor construction is similar to an outdoor deck. Pressure treated lumber is specified for all parts that contact the ground. Distance between the sides is 12 feet. A material list indicates all necessary lumber, hardware, foundation and roofing requirements, so it's easy to shop local lumber yards and home centers for total material cost. Plywood cutting diagrams show how to cut roof panels without waste and full-size patterns can be traced to get the exact angle on rafter and railing parts.
